4. give what you seek.

human beings have four basic needs in a relationship: attention, affection, appreciation, and acceptance. we give attention by making eye contact. we express affection by connecting physically with sensitivity and permission. we demonstrate appreciation by telling and showing people that they add value to our lives. we provide acceptance by cultivating an internal conversation of recognizing ourselves in the other and the other in ourselves.

be generous with the people in your life and you will spontaneously see these expressions returning to you in kind. if you have children, shower them with attention, affection, appreciation, and acceptance and watch them flourish.

5. remember that life is short.

我所选的这本《人际关系学》只是众多同名书籍中的一种版本。但我相信众多版本的《人际关系学》大体一致!其中，书中的关于人际关系的定义也是众说纷纷，见仁见智的。而就我的借鉴理解，及书中作者的总结，人际关系定义如下：人际关系是指社会人群中因交往而构成的相互依存和相互联系的社会关系，属于社会学的范畴。中文常指除亲属关系以外的人与人交往关系的总称，也被称为人际交往，包括朋友关系、学友(同学)关系、师生关系、雇佣关系、战友关系、同事及领导与被领导关系等。人是社会动物，每个个体均有其独特之思想、背景、态度、个性、行为模式及价值观，然而人际关系对每个人的情绪、生活、工作有很大的影响，甚至对组织气氛、组织沟通、组织运作、组织效率及个人与组织之关系均有极大的影响。

在日新月异、经济文明高速发展的今天，人际关系显得日益重要。怎么说呢,大至国家与国家之间的军事、政治、经济外交，小至我们在日常生活工作学习中与形形色色的人打交道，这无一不涉及人际关系。

作为院级学生干部的我们，人际关系可以说是我们的必修课。何出此言?就拿我们各部门各干事在学生会的工作来说吧。最基本，我们学生会里的各部门之间就存在着在工作上相互协作完成任务或工作的关系，这就是人际关系的一种。再而，作为体育部一名干事的我，平时也需要和师兄师姐同事打交道，交流安排工作任务，了解彼此;做出的活动方案需要老师的审批和各相关协会的协办，无疑我们又在(或者说又需要)与他们打交道了。这也是人际关系。出来工作要与上司打交道;做管理者要与下属打交道;做生意要与顾客打交道;等等，不一而足。总之吧，生活处处、事事都与人际关系息息相关，或大或小，或密切或仅相关，或长或瞬间……

所以人际关系可以说是人与人之间，在一段过程中，彼此借由思想、感情、行为所表现的吸引、排拒、合作、竞争、领导、服从等互动之关系，广义的说亦包含文化制度模式与社会关系。

人际关系的重要性，也许不用我多说，都或多或少地清楚知道!

?卡耐基人际关系学》中，虽然没有直接教导我们怎样去处理人际关系，但他教育我们如何去做一个受欢迎的人。卡耐基说，在别人犯错误的时候，尤其是社会阅历不如自己的人犯了错误，我们不要直接去批评他，因为在我们认为是错误的时候别人并不这样认为，在你想发脾气训人的时候，先对自己说：等一等暂停一分钟，然后站在他人的角度考虑这个问题，当你认真考虑他的立场的时候，你就会发现自己已经不那么气愤了，这个方法将很好的让你变成一个很有耐心和宽容的人。如果你想要在领导方法上超越自我，希望改变其他人的态度和举止时，请您记住给他人一个美名，让他为此而奋斗努力。所以，在别人犯错的时候，请换个角度来教育他，让他能够欣然接受并乐于改正它。
